Here's a good read on how Microsoft is working to improve accessibility in Windows 8, the forthcoming update to its flagship operating system.

According to Jennifer Norberg (the lead program manager for Microsoft's Human Interaction Platform team) around 15% of the world's population have a disability of some kind - that's more than 1 billion people with disabilities ranging from the visual and cognitive to difficulties with hearing and mobility.

1 billion potential customers means that accessibility is a big deal for developers, and even more so thanks to recent technological advances: touch devices are already helping to dramatically improve user experience for those with disabilities.

So no surprise that Microsoft is working hard to ensure that Windows 8 works great whoever the user, and whatever the device.
