Role Purpose

The Online Editor & Community manager is an integral part of the overall SMB online strategy. This role will be directly accountable for online content, execution and delivery to support and help drive the SMB online business and customer experience. This role is responsible for ensuring that the UK SMB website and supporting online delivery vehicles convey the correct campaign, product, PR or Customer evidence related messaging in accordance with the SMB Marketing & Business Plan.

The Role

Responsibilities will include:

 Website Editorial:

  •  Owning and managing the SMB online content strategy working closely with the SMB Website Manager and SMB Marcomms lead to ensure alignment with key business objectives and comms plan.
  • Supporting the SMB Website manager in delivering the editorial requirements (edit, produce and refresh content) for the website migration project to launch a new Microsoft UK Business portal.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to develop and incorporate the latest customer campaign related content into customer online communications ensuring the SMB online communicates to the “right audience, in the right way at the right time” with the correct up-sell and cross-sell approach.
  • Review corporate and local content and deliver across all SMB online vehicles, ensuring thought leading, compelling and engaging content is developed or sourced to not only help educate the SMB audience but more importantly helps Microsoft to promote the right software solution for specific customer pain points
  • Work with our news feed service provider to brief in the production of relevant and topical feature stories and ensure the content is surfaced across relevant webpages and social media channels
  • Manage regular bookings of SMB Online advertising space on our “Owned” Microsoft website working with our UK MSCOM team, as well as identifying  new opportunities to work with other Microsoft editors to gain SMB editorial presence on their website e.g. Windows, Office.com

Newsletters/Emails:

  • Working with the MSC team, builds and produces the content for the monthly medium-sized business newsletter (Business Insights) and monthly small business newsletter, Smart Business
  • Produces content for the SMB promotional emails
  • Ownership of reporting on clickthroughs and newsletter performance

Social Media/Community:

  • Owns and leads the Microsoft SMB Social Media execution. Managing, writing and  posting relevant and topical content aligning to Microsoft’s key SMB “Big Bets” and industry topics across all SMB social media channels including Blog, Twitter channels, Facebook pages (either via 3rd Party relationships or internally generated content)
  • Build relationships to support business stakeholders by syndicating SMB social media content to their own channels (e.g. Windows Facebook page) and by promoting specific campaigns (e.g. Microsoft adCenter) through SMB owned channels.
  • Proactively driving and engaging in 3rd part content initiatives (such as joint Intel, HP and Microsoft community) which allow for Microsoft SMB content and editorial (including Social Media) to be shared and syndicated
  • Connecting PR and Customer Evidence into the SMB Social Media channels to ensure a pulse of up-to-date thought leadership content is published and supported with regular customer success stories.

Skills and experience:

  • Editorial: excellent grammatical and editorial skills. Candidate will need to write/edit content for website and newsletters and a good understanding of the products and solutions which Microsoft has to offer the SMB audience would be an advantage.
  • Social Media: has a passion for Social Media and Digital Marketing. Understanding and appreciation of how to use social media to drive business engagement
  • Audience : understanding of the SMB customer audience or  B2B online marketing experience is preferred
  • Innovate : can bring new ideas and proposals to execute via the SMB Online team
  • Stakeholder management: Adept at building relationships across the business locally and with key SMB Online Corp contacts
  • Ensuring personal projects are completed on-time and on-quality and on-schedule
